AI as was fondly called on stage was born in Accra, Ghana on July 21 1986, and natively known as Emmanuel Kwadwo Oware,
(Ayisi Ican), is a Ghanaian Afro pop, Hip Hop and R&B artiste. As a kid, his Father played in a band and had a large collection of records by International artistes. This gave A.I the opportunity to listen to different genres of music. Thus, he developed an interest in music and started writing his own songs. In Senior High School, he recorded his first demo with a group of friends. Though the outcome of the
song was not perfect, he never gave up on music and continued to record his own songs. AI focus on music made him skip classes, which got him suspended from school. Since after his suspensions from high school became much more devoted to music full time.
In 2009 he was discovered by executives of an independent record company, “2Ligit Records”. Since his signing to 2Ligit Records he has recorded over 200 songs at 2Ligit’s African Zone Studio. He was listed as one of the top 10 most promising artistes in Ghana after he released “Do your thing”, “Mary Jane” and “Tenderness”, three songs off his debut mixtape. “Mixtape Mayhem”, his debut mix tape, was
released on December 2013 and has over 800,000 plays. On the 7th of May 2014,
The International Song writing Competition (ISC), widely recognized as the
world's most prestigious and respected song writing competition announced its 2013 winners. A.I. won first place in the R&B /Hip-Hop category for his song “Anger Management”.
A.I.'s music has been inspired by his life and strongly influenced by songs of artistes such as 2pac and Youssou Ndour.
